Homeless in London
I rarely make people the centre point of my photographs, preferring instead to shoot buildings or landscapes. I’d decided to visit the Southbank of the Thames late at night to capture the angles of the illuminated Millennium Bridge running across the river towards St Paul’s Cathedral.
However, instead I met a homeless man who was sat on the bridge looking up towards the Cathedral. As I chatted to him my thought process completely changed. Instead of angles and architecture, the focus of my image became human fragility and hopefulness. He agreed to be part of my picture and changed the perspective of my shot.
